Non GMO seeds from Sprout
This is why a seed is not just a seed
Did you know that wrong seeds could ruin your home gardening experience?
In order to be chosen as a “Sprout Seed” for our pencils, cards and Tasty Garden boxes, the seeds have to be very special! This is why you will only find carefully chosen, untreated, high-quality, non-GMO seeds in all Sprout products. If you wish organic seeds you can choose that, too. You can buy our non GMO organic Sprout pencil Edition here.
Organic seeds have to meet the same quality standards and criteria as our other seeds. They are only purchased from certified organic sources.
But what does all this actually mean and is a seed not just a seed?
Untreated seeds mean that the seed after harvest haven’t been treated with e.g. fungicides or other kinds of substances.
When we say high quality we refer to a controlled high percentage of germination, that the seed lot is pure and not contaminated with other seeds, and that the seeds are free from seed borne plant diseases.
All seeds originate from traditional breeding methods.
How to become a Sprout Seed?
We want you to be successful planting your Sprout products. This is why we have listed a set of criteria our seeds have to meet to become a member of the Sprout family:
- The seed must germinate within short time
- The seeds may not be toxic or otherwise harmful
- The seeds are primarily chosen to be grown in containers or indoor
- The plants should be easy to grow
- Seeds and plants should suit the Sprout product, e.g. the size of the seed should fit in the capsule and the micro greens should be both tasty and presentable.

This is some of our thoughts about seeds and we hope they result in a sprouting experience in your window sill!
