Planning your garden

Are you dreaming of warm weather, sunshine, blue sky and green grass? I am!  I can’t wait to get started in our roof garden here at Sprout.

planning your garden

But it is still a little bit to early to sow most seeds – even though you can sow year round indoor – you just get the best result if you can wait to March or April. But what both you and I can do is planning!

Planning your garden with Raised beds

We have 4 raised beds made from old pallet frames. They are about 80 x 120 cm each.  And I am of course going to grow all our pencils and our seeded paper.

One of the raised beds will be filled with herbs. I hope the sage, thyme and rosemary I planted last year will survive the winter. They will be supplemented with thyme, basil, sage and our two newcomer: chives and lemon balm. You can find our Sprout Pencil Herb Edition with basil, sage and thyme seeds here.

Raised bed no 2 has already some strawberry plants growing, so I think this should be the kitchen garden. Filled with tomatoes, sweet peppers and our new wild strawberries.

Raised bed no. 3 will be the flowers bed filled with Forget-me-not, Lavender, calendula and out Sprout cards which will flower with Black eyed Susan and alyssum. This bed will be in shades of pastel colours, because their colours would look great together with the others. You can also make your own flowers bed filled with the same flowers by using our Sprout Pencil Flower Edition. Find our Sprout Pencil Flower Edition here.

What are you planning to grow?

Good luck with planning your garden

How to grow wild strawberries – perhaps from a Sprout pencil?

February 4th, 2016|0 Comments

How to grow your wild strawberries. How to successfully grow your own strawberries – perhaps from a Sprout pencil? Everybody loves strawberries – so why not grow these irresistible wild strawberries yourself? You can grow them in your garden or in a container on your patio. They are perfect as cover plants in your container garden as they like partly shade. So try to plant them under a high-stemmed scrub, e.g. a marguerite daisy or a lemon tree. This will cover the bare soil in your container which will help to reduce weeds and evaporation of water. And it will look so pretty! Click here to read the full blogpost
