Get rid of fruit flies

Aaarrrggghhh! We have got fruit flies and we don’t like it! Despite our aim to be nice and all-embracing people – we must admit – fruit flies are not welcome at Sprout!

How to get rid of fruit flies

So I have made a plan: How to get rid of the fruit flies. I will follow these steps:
1) Clean, clean and clean
2) Try different housekeeper tricks
3) Buy carnivore plants
4) Make traps
5) The final – but hopefully – never to be used solution

Banana flies are not dangerous; they do not carry diseases or other illness – but they are extremely annoying. They like to live in fruit (they are called fruit flies), but can also be found in garbage, plant rests, soil and even in your kitchen sink and wet cloths.

So, first of all I will go to

Clean, clean and clean

I will start cleaning;

• Clean our windowsill and any other place we keep plants
• Change the soil in the flower pots
• Get rid of sick and withered plant material
• Hide fruit in the refrigerator
• Clean our wash and pour boiling water in the drain
• Put all dirty dishes in the dishwasher
• Make sure our garbage is in the garbage bin

I am busy now, but I will be back soon with progress and next step in the Master Plan against banana flies. You are more than welcome to follow my struggles – and/or give me good tips to get rid of those small, annoying creatures!
